I decided to take a break from reading and go through some online stores - the best way to do nothing....

The last three weeks have gone too fast because I´ve had so many things in my mind and even more things to do. About couple of weeks ago Lahti´s designing institute published its preliminary assignments, which are quite interesting. I´ve been thinking a lot about them and done many sketches but still I haven´t started any of those assignments because I can´t decide what to do. My goal is to start working on one of them tomorrow....

Also the art diploma project has kept me busy and sister´s prom dress. The dress is looking beautiful and it´ll fit her perfectly. I used a bit too much time on the corset because I was so excited about making one. I remember when years ago with mom we were watching this program that was about a women who made corsets for living. She made them finely, with patience and the detailing was neat and accurate and I thought that it was really cool. That´s why I was quite excited about making one.

Oh, and then last weeks highlight: I got a job from............................. Kiasma, the museum of contemporary art! Score!

Yesterday with sis we invited grandma for a dinner: as appetizers we made mozzarella salad and grandma brought salmon, as main course sis made a broccoli soup and I made a baguette and finally as dessert we had coffee and these delicious pear plates (ofc made by grandma).

Why we decided to do all this, was because it´s always us who go to grandma´s and then she cooks for us and pampers us. We thought that this time it was our turn to do something nice for her. Evening was a success and we´ll definitely do it again. Sis and I we had decorated our apartment with candles and white Christmas lights so this place looked almost like in a fairy tale. Almost....

Grandma got excited about sister´s new heels and she even tried running with them.

FRIDAY: DINNER WITH MOM AND DAD IN TUUSULA

THE GLASS HEAD FROM BERLIN

I love this needless object: it´s beautiful and it´s glass and it´s interesting. I took it to our apartment and now it´s guarding on the dining table. Good boy...!

Sister is wandering somewhere around Jyväskylä, mom left this morning to SPB so today it was just me and dad hanging out in Tuusula. In the morning I left to the library and studied there for three hours and then the rest of this day I spent sowing sister´s prom dress. It´s looking pretty good...!

This weekend I´m going to take it easy and just study and sow. Yesterday when I got back from school, I headed straight away to the library and during the week I was twice there. This is serious now! I´m lousy in math and German (and also in Finnish and French but I´ve given up on hope with those two...) so I have a lot to do if I want some good results from matriculation exams. We´ll see how this will end....

Last Sunday was great: with my two sweethearts we went to couple of flea markets, then for sushi and then for a cup coffee. It was such an inspiring day. It always is with those two. ;) I bought a funny pink sweater, which I lovelovelove. I usually hatehatehate pink but also two weeks ago I bought a pink shirt blouse. Weird.... I´ll publish a pic of the sweater later.

Hmmmmm what else... Oh, this week I started working on my art diploma project and now I can´t keep my hands off of it. There is one but, though: they look very.... What word would describe them well.... Perhaps goth, death, a bad tattoo....!! And that is not what I wanted. Maybe it´s the color black. I should paint them.... Or maybe I´m just being self- doubting.

Berlin was great!

The day before yesterday at nine o´clock in the morning we arrived to Berlin and started exploring the city. It rained almost all day but we didn´t mind. We found some beautiful stores and ate a delicious seafood dinner. Rest of the afternoon, with sister we wandered around the city looking for a shopping center that didn´t even exist. We walked a lot and went through many shops and in the end, after the hard shopping, we bought cappuccinos from STARBUCKS (which I lovelovelove because we don´t have it in Finland (yet..)).

In the evening we went to the Guggenheim museum, which was nice. I was a bit disappointed that the museum was so small: just one room. And it wasn´t even a big one. I thought that because it´s Guggenheim it´s going to be something big and amazing... The installation that they have there is great, though: room full of different kind of white "statues" made by Pawel Althamer. (read more) From the museum´s store I bought something really exciting and I don´t know why: a glass head. It´s damn beautiful. I adore it and I have no idea where I´m going to put it. It´s made of recycled glass and designed by a Polish designer.

Yesterday we did some more shopping and eating and late in the evening we arrived in Finland. Home sweet home, but I would´ve loved staying there. Berlin, I´m coming back!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I´M FRUSTRATED WITH MY SOWING MACHINE! WHY DIDN´T I TAKE IT TO MAINTENANCE BEFORE!

Ten minutes ago I couldn´t even look at the machine without getting mad. I just wanted to throw it out of the window, then smash it with a baseball bat and bury it under the snow..... It does a terrible stitching and I can´t understand why. I´ve read its manual too many times, I cleaned it and checked its oils. Usually in the end I´ve managed to make it work but apparently it´s not going to work this time.

Aaaanyway, here´s something that I was looking yesterday:

Those dresses are dreams! Especially the second one, which has beautiful cuts and the metal zipper finishes it nicely. The yellow jacket is something that I´ve been wanting for a while. First I thought that it´s a bit too much for me but now I think it would be perfect. Perhaps I´ll find one from Berlin where I´m travelling with my family next Thursday! We booked the flights today and I can´t wait to see Berlin for the first time.

YESTERDAY I GOT MY DRIVE´S LICENSE!!

Tralalallaaalaaa I´m very very happy! I get to drive grandma´s old car and it´s perfect: small and fits everywhere!

Today with sis we drove around Tuusula and bought some fireworks for the evening. We´ve got a huge BOOM BOOM for the midnight: a souvenir from Russia. It´s a big box that´s said to be quite a show when it explodes....

We´ve got the fireworks, sparkling wine, tasty food, relatives are on their way and the last hours of this year are in our hands so the only thing I have to say to you is...

DIY - from a denim jacket to a leather detailed vest

I found the Beavers´ denim jacket from a recycling center in Hietalahti. I was supposed to decorate its back with chains (I´m crazy about all kinds of chains at the moment.......) but then I ended up "weaving" leather. First I cut the sleeves off and then I cut a hole where in the end I sowed the leather piece. That easy!

And then something to dream about....

The day after Christmas Eve

As a Christmas present from grandma I got a beautiful jacket knit by her. It´s light grey and I l-o-v-e it! From family I got a new camera. It´s a Canon, same brand as all dad´s old objectives and a flash, so they fit on the camera. I was super excited when I got to try them! Now the next thing I need to do, is to learn how to photograph...

Yesterday we had a Christmas dinner at grandma´s and then the evening was spent in Tuusula. This morning I woke up at nine o´clock and we´ve been watching Pride and Prejudice all morning. It´s the BBC´s version, which consists of six episodes: niiiiice! I´ve read the book and seen all the movies and I´m still not tired of it. Pride and prejudice is the only romantic movie that inspires me. I don´t usually like them.

Last weekend looked like this...

This is not even a prototype: the other skull is made of paper and the leather´s from mom´s old skirt. The final version will be made of black leather and there will be a three skulls on the right. Plus I thought that those chains would look better if I made some sort of a net instead of letting them just hang free. We´ll see...

Here I started working with another necklace but it didn´t work out - too much glue and now I have to start it all over again................... :D

This morning I woke up at nine o´clock when the coffee machine started making my morning coffee. I felt like a queen. Oh, the little things that make me happy. Then instead of going to facebook, I put some music on, took my sketch book and drew a leopard. After that I called grandma and told that I was coming for a breakfast. She lives couple of blocks from us so I was there in no time. We had a quick breakfast and then headed to the city. I was looking for some Christmas presents and found one. ONE. It´s hard. Tomorrow I´ll try again and if I can´t find any nice presents, everybody are getting perfume testers and the money will be spent on pampering ME.

Couple of days ago with a little bunch of friends we went to see our school´s musical, which was amazing. Talented singers, great actors and cute sets. ;)

After the musical with a friend we had a cozy evening: we made lots of cheese pasta and ended the evening by listening to Tchaikovsky and dreaming about our non- existent ballet careers. For 11 years I danced ballet and about a year ago I had to quit that hobby. Lately I´ve started to miss it real bad. Ballet was something relaxing, rewarding and wonderful to do. Ah, I remember all our spring performances! They were the perfect way to start summer holidays.

Apparently I´m having some sort of a bird phase: I love drawing them. The owl is my absolute favorite: so handsome, wise and majestic.

I ´ve had some trouble sleeping and last weekend I noticed that drawing sets my mind at rest. So perhaps you´ll keep seeing these bird drawings here a bit more often. :D

ME VAAN.

Today we took the picture for Christmas cards: we had bright pink lips and striped t-shirts. I don´t want to ruin the surprise so I wont publish the final picture yet.

So yesterday I didn´t get the fabrics for sister´s dress because I woke up in the afternoon and we were supposed to shop them in the morning. I was really mad at myself : I had waited the moment to get my hands on them. I´ve done all the patterns and a prototype of the top and the only thing I´m missing are the fabrics!!!!

Aaaanyway: this afternoon it was snowing and with sis we made cookies. It felt like Christmas.

Frankfurt - we´ll do it again!

We shopped A LOT, (If I´m not too lazy, I´ll post some pics tomorrow...), had a great evening at a local night club, went to see an annual Christmas fair, had lunch at top of a skyscraper and I got to experience my second hockey game ever. I wouldn´t have minded staying there another week and going to school wasn´t the first thing in my mind when we arrived in Helsinki.

Yesterday I decided to start studying for the matriculation exams and went to the book store to buy 4 (or was it 5?) thick notebooks. In spring I´m writing mathematics, French, Germany and Finnish.... and I´m good at none of those. I´ve already started working with maths and I was a bit freaked out when I understood how much I have to read. Luckily I can be quite hardworking if I want so... except that at the moment I´m having this lazy period which means that going to school or doing my homework couldn´t be less interesting. Especially when I´m having couple of veryveryvery interesting projects going on: sister´s prom dress (tomorrow we´ll go and buy the fabrics) and the art diploma work. I have so many ideas and I´ve been filling my sketch books, which are looking not-that-empty anymore. If I only had a rich sponsor, a huge dream studio, all the fancy equipments that I need and lots of time to spent on being creative, my life would be perfect. On the other hand then things might be a bit too easy...

TOMORROW IT´S GOING TO BE BYE BYE HELSINKI AND HELLO FRANKFURT.

It´s weird how the days keep getting shorter and shorter. Usually early in the morning when I go to school it´s still dark and in the afternoon when I go home, it´s dark again. Today I went to school at noon so I had some time to enjoy my morning coffee in peace and even made a smoothie for breakfast..... It had blueberries, a banana, an apple and yogurt = best breakfast since my birthday.

So tomorrow with a friend and her dad were going to Frankfurt. I just managed to pack my bag and it´s looking yellow! Yep, I got our yellow suitcase which has traveled all over the world. It´s not pretty but the color is a good protection - try to loose a big bright yellow suitcase. Noup, not possible.

Hopefully we´ll have a great trip!

Yesterday was great: with sis and dad we did a little road trip to Padasjoki. There we looked for winter mushrooms and Chaga mushrooms, gathered some firewood, wandered in the forest and when it got cold we made coffee and filled sudoku puzzles in the caravan: niiiice.

I´ve been thinking a lot about the art diploma project that I should start working on and now I finally know what I want to do: massive jewellery made from leather and chains. That´s all I´m going to say....

While looking for some information on history of jewellery I got lost and found Fiona Paxton´s webpage. I had never before heard about this jewellery artist and I wonder why. Her designs and kinda ethnic style are amazing!

Last Wednesday with couple of friends we visited Taik (School of Art and Design). There was a lecture about how to apply there and in the end we got to see some of the ateliers and studios where all the students work. It was great: the place itself is a piece of art and some of the works and installations that we saw there were amazing and very innovative. At the moment getting into that university is my biggest dream and if I ever managed to get there it would be an honor to me.

Friday was great. We celebrated friend´s birthday and had a nice evening. Then on Saturday I unfortunately had to go to school: rough morning. At school we decorated canvas bags with sixth graders and it was surprisingly fun: the kids were calm, we listened to good music all day long, ate yummy tacos and I got to spend time with my sweet and goofy friends.

In the evening I went for a coffee with an other birthday girl. I ordered us these amazing chocolate desserts that tasted like h-e-a-v-e-n. We talked and talked and talked till we noticed that we were almost late from the movies so we grabbed our bags and hurried up. The movie went in Orion, which is my favorite movie theater ever: even if the movie´s bad, it´s always worth watching because the place itself is so inspiring (...and the benches are damn comfy.).

Sunday: studyingstudyinstudying and feeling like I´m getting nowhere.

I still haven´t found the motivation for school but I´m trying. What I´d really want to do right now is to take a train to St. Petersburg, relax and be creative. I know, I ´ve said this before but it´s something that would make me reallly happy at the moment. I want to leave Finland behind for a while and take a break from everything. Sounds dramatic but it´s not.

About a month ago when I visited Spb, with mom we found this super cool art boutique: it had a cool cozy decoration and the best thing was that in the back of the shop there was a little cafeteria. I can see us sitting there with our sketch books and drinking some sort of funny Russian coffee or tea... Mmmm.

Yesterday evening sister and I we watched The Notebook - what a beautiful movie. I don´t usually like romantic movies but this one... it had something different. Anyway, it was good and I recommend it.

Usually when people ask what is my favorite movie, I get confused and basically forget all the movies that I´ve ever seen. So now, after some hard thinking I managed to list some of the best movies that I´ve seen during the past three (?) years:

Selon Charlie, L´argent de poche, Year in Province, Prinsessa, Black Swan, Pina, Coffee and Cigarettes, Little Miss Sunshine aaaaand.... Mother Journey.

The most unforgettable movie was probably Prinsessa (directed by Arto Halonen). It´s based on a true story about a woman who thought she was a princess and got into a mental hospital. She had a wonderful personality and she charmed (almost) everyone in the village and in the hospital. The movie has its sad moments but it was a great experience. I still get goosebumps when watching the trailer....

Yesterday I asked mom "Why my name isn´t Adele?". She said "Darling, your name became Dea because of the many divine features of your personality.".

Today mom and dad left to Petersburg and with sis we had our adventures in the city: finally I got myself the perfect jeans (from Cheap Monday), we stored 20 school books in a storing closet at the railway station (do not ask...), had the most delicious ice cream platters at ciao caffe and got one step closer to our little dream. Let me explain it to you: about a year ago we decided that we want these fierce piercings on our wrists. We´d both have them on the left wrist and it would be a cute "sister thing" to do. We got super excited about these and now it looks like we might actually get them.... Fingers crossed!

I have no motivation for studying and school. I mean none! I just want to photograph, sow, draw, design, dress and CREATE. I was supposed to publish some of my pics from last week but I forgot the camera home...

Lately I haven´t had that much time to write here and now that I think about it, I have no idea why I´ve been so "busy". I sure haven´t been studying...

Last Wednesday I had a driving lesson that lasted almost for four hours: we rehearsed how to control the car on a slippery road. Too much fun! I can´t wait to get my driver´s license: with friends we´ve already done some road trip plans... Only the license is still missing.

Today´s song:

This afternoon I went to grandma´s and told her that "I want coffee and I have my knitting project in my canvas bag, so lets start working." There we sat and talked about everything while knitting. ...like two grannies. She is making an amazing cardigan for sister: it´s going to be a piece of art (like her creations usually are...). She truly is one of the most inspiring persons that I know: her attitude on life is so fresh and open minded and she´s constantly looking for new and interesting things. That lady is the sweetest person I know.

Yesterday evening, just before I was going to bed, I took a look at my calender by accident and noticed that I didn´t have school today! So instead of going to bed I took my ipod and a knitting project and started working. I was so concentrated on knitting and my head was full of thoughts and ideas that when I finally took a brake I noticed that I had spent three hours in my own little world.... and that the white head band that I was working on, was almost ready.

Knit a 74cm x 10cm piece (Forget that little piece that is in the pic...). Then seam and fold it like this:

Behind the band, on the wrong side I stitched two pieces of rubber band so that it fits well.

...and hid the bands with cotton.

I don´t really handle oil paints and drawing human figures and faces is also quite challenging for me.

There´s going to be a change: I decided that by the end of this year I can draw a good human figure and at least almost handle oils.

I´ve always used water colors more than oils because they are natural, delicate and soft. They have a nice vibe. ;)

PHOTO DIARY: Friday and this morning.

I planned on my trusty Moleskine what I´m going to paint on those two white canvases that have been haunting me. I once painted them white again and then lost the inspiration - for the last three months they´ve made me feel guilty for not been productive. Me and my huge problems............

GOOOOOOD MORNING.

Every autumn I start knitting something and sometimes I even finish them... This project seems promising: I was clever enough to choose the thickest knitting sticks that I have.

Wednesday: An evening picnic on Rautatientori (= a site next to Helsinki´s railway station) with sis - Brie cheese, grapes and a delicious unripened cheese dessert. Best thing was that at the same time there was a firework presentation. (I guess that it was in honor of an opera´s premiere...) P-E-R-F-E-C-T, I say!

Thursday: With a friend we studied maths till one o´clock in the night and I made us potato pancakes with cheese.

Friday: I was lame and didn´t go out but came to Tuusula to see mom and dad. Since it was so warm outside in the evening, we decided to eat supper on the terrace. I lightened some candles and there we sat eating pizza in our pullovers and wool socks. Nice.

My hand is almost fine! I´m able to write again and the swelling is gone. Bruise is still there but I´ll manage....

Matriculation exam was almost fun (who am I kidding: I really enjoyed it!). I have no idea how did it go but I sure did my best there. On the other hand if you look the way I write this blog it couldn´t have gone that well....

Anyway: on the coast of Lauttasaari (outdoors) there´s this environmental art exhibition organized by LARU group.

This year the theme is BRAKE - as in breaking news, brake free, coffee brake, jail brake, broken silence, lucky break, break up... There are art works and tags (that introduce the artists and their visions) all over the beach: it´s cool that some people organize this kind of stuff.

I. CAN. NOT. BE. THIS. CLUMSY.

On Saturday I studied a lot and at the same time I wrote a lot. In the evening my wrist started aching. Ok, I´ve been there before: I took a tourniquet and it was almost fine. I was a bit nervous because tomorrow´s one of the matriculation exams and I have to be able to write there so the wrist can not hurt. Then today..... I slipped on my way to school. Ofc I managed to fell on my hand and now it has an ugly bruise, it´s swollen and the wrist hurts again. Could this happen to anyone else...? After school I bought two different creams (one for the bruise and one for the wrist) and bandages from a pharmacy and there´s ice in the freezer. I´ll manage... Right??

TODAY´S FOOTAGE: Once again I was shooting on the beach and once again it was so so so beautiful out there.

I took these on the way from the pharmacy. It´s wonderful walking down the beach. A year ago when I was still jogging I remember how I enjoyed running on the beach in the morning. It´s a feeling that I can´t even describe: you feel powerless and powerful at the same time, you´d want to stand still and just listen but also keep running and your mind says "What the hell is happening?".

Weekend in the countryside at mom and dad´s.

Yesterday with sis we studied almost all day. Today we woke up a bit earlier and left to the forest to collect mushrooms. Sister, dad and I we wandered there for two hours and managed to get a nice prey.

It was so beautiful out there: morning dew, yellow leaves and the shining sun. It´s truly from the surrounding nature where I get my inspiration. Today when mom told that she´s about to start a new painting project I remembered mine (.....which I haven´t actually started BUT I´ve thought about it and painted some old canvases white again so basically I have started it. Right??). I´d love to take those canvases, go out wearing a big warm pullover and start sketching something autumnal.... I thought that I would paint one of my photographs. Not one of those mushrooms but perhaps one of those views that I published on the last post... Well, we´ll see.

Today school started at one o´clock and I got to sleep a bit longer. I love those calm mornings when sister has already gone to school and I get to spend some time by myself and for example draw or read on the balcony. This was one of those mornings but this time I went to the beach to take some photos. It was wonderful: the air was fresh, weather was cloudy and a bit chilly and the sea was silent and calm.

I listen to almost all kind of music but Finnish music is one of my absolute favorites. My newest music crush is techno: in the summer I downloaded Gui Borattos CD and noticed that it´s actually some good stuff. After that I realized the beauty of dubstep and now my music taste includes almost everything. Except heavy metal.... It´s probably the only genre that I do not understand.

Ate frozen berries from the floor with mom and dad. Yes, we´re an original family.

Today´s footage:

I made these necklaces in the summer: one of them is made of wood and the other one´s made of something that reminds of strong cardboard.... All the pieces are sawed with a jigsaw. The chains are still missing because I just haven´t had time to work on them. Also my skull project is having a brake... Well, as soon as I´m done with matriculation exams I´ll have the time and energy to continue my creative projects. Oh, and then I´ll start making sister´s prom dress! I can already see the huge amount of chiffon on my sowing table and hear the cozy noise of my sowing machines.....! Life is gooood.

Last Thursday with sis and mom we spent the evening at grandma´s and celebrated my birthday. She prepared a delicious dinner, which I had the honor to plan. Later in the evening we watched fireworks on her balcony: I was wearing my leopard printed "one piece" (a BD present from sister, bought from Gina Tricot... ) and we all had sweet strawberry drinks in our hands. FUN FUN!

So today was the first hearing exam (Swedish) and tomorrow´s the other one (English). Today after the exam I wasn´t thinking about how did I do there, but how exciting it was and kinda refreshing. It´s just that now those matriculation exams, that everybody´ve talked about for the last year, started and we´re one step closer to universities. I can´t wait to see where I´ll end up after high school.

FRIDAY WAS GREAT:I haven´t had that much fun in a while!

We were celebrating because we had then only 100 days left to spend in school.... NOT BAD.

Today I´ve read and listened to Swedish (almost) all day because tomorrow is the hearing exam. Well see how it goes.

FOUND SOME OF MY OLD DRAWINGS.

Mom and dad gave me these amazing sketch books and crayons as my birthday present. They are super fancy and I´d love to draw something in them BUT I can´t find any inspiration... I thought that painting and drawing would´ve been something relaxing to do after reading for the matriculation exams, but NO. I got even more frustrated.

Last week we moved back to the city with sis and this is nice. I didn´t remember how much I loved being here: this place has a funny relaxed and kinda creative atmosphere...

Yesterday with a friend we studied here late till the evening and all the time we had something to eat. Now I´m surrounded by dishes and left overs and before six o´clock this place should be clean.... I better start cleaning.

1st of September was my birthday and I´m FINALLY 18.

That morning I got a breakfast in bed: Starbucks´ espresso double shot and marshmallows. Nice!

When I came to school a friend played me "Happy Birthday" with a mouth organ: I almost shed a tear. It was so sweet and I will never forget it.

After school I had a driving lesson....and I did well! I´m usually super clumsy but that day everything went smoothly. I was surprised (and I guess that the teacher was too...).

In the evening with mom, dad and sis we went to Torni´s bar. It was in 14th floor and the view up there was a-m-a-z-i-n-g: rain had just stopped, the sun was shining and we had a bottle of champagne on our table.

After that we went to a restaurant where the food was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s and we had a good time.

When we were about to go home, we noticed that there were lots of people, good music and a nice vibe in Storyville(a local jazz club): we decided to stop by there and saw that the live artist was Anssi Kela. I love his music (I know that it´s lame but still!!): it´s one of those artists that I will never get tired of. It was so cool! I had always wanted to go to Storyville so I truly enjoyed myself there. After his gig we drove back home and on the way listened to Anssi Kela´s Cd and sang along. GREAT EVENING!

Yesterday was great too: with a little bunch of people we celebrated friend´s and my birthday. Once again food was delicious, we had live music, awesome decorations (thanks to sis and her friend) and lovely people. It was a bit calmer evening than what we had planned: we were so tired that in the end we didn´t have the energy to go to a bar!:DD Perhaps because now we´re so old. We did stop by in the city when a friend gave us a lift...

we went through couple of flea markets, organized her cellar (...where we found lots of colorful, cute, wild, funny, interesting and inspiring clothes), ate yummy food, watched tv and read the newest fashion magazines.

First school day is over and I´m alive.

Today wasn´t as bad as I thought it would be: after school with a friend we ran some errands in the city and finally found ourselves from a brand outlet in Ruoholahti. It´s always so nice to go there and this time I found amazing wedge heels. It´s autumn and I definitely don´t need peep-toe wedge heels but they are perfect. I had to have them! Plus they weren´t that expensive... I´ll publish some photos of those dream shoes tomorrow.

Summer 2011 was nice.

I don´t want to go to school tomorrow!!!!! My mind and thoughts are in summer and Flow! I don´t want to think about matriculation exams or sit in school or eat in our depressing canteen or once again notice how shitty I´m in French or be late from a lesson or notice that my pencil is a ballpoint pent and that those little skulls on my exam paper can´t be erased or....

That´s all I wanted to say.

FLOW FESTIVAL 2011 - ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS SUMMER

Our favorite spot at the festival area was the Back Yard where the theme was Marimekko.

ELINA AND ME!

One of my must-see bands was Midlake. It performed on the main stage when the sun started to set: perfect!

Elina´s must-see band was Warpaint. We managed to get to the front and when the concert started the tent was as full as possible!

After hours listening to music and standing in the crowds we decided to have something to eat: warm breads filled mainly with halloumi cheese and rucola salad. It was delicious! Of course we went to the Back Yard to eat them where the atmosphere was like in garden parties.

The other band that I really wanted to see and hear was Röyksopp and it was goooooood!

In the night when it was getting cold outside we found a warm place where there were huge Fatboy beanbags on the floor. We conquered one of them and rested for a while. This is a bit mean to say but when the performing artist started to play there at 01.00, we had to leave because the music.... Well it wasn´t something that we like to listen and we definitely aren´t narrow-minded when it comes to different music styles. Elina described it as psychedelic jazz.

Yesterday was great and I can´t wait for next year.

Someone sent me the sweetest message ever and now I want to leave this country and see it all!

Today was a cozy day at home. In the morning I did some cleaning in the house so that mom will be happy when she gets back. ;) Then I took my laptop, news paper, speakers and my big yellow coffee mug and headed to our terrace. Weather was warm and a bit windy = perfect.

In the afternoon after studying some Swedish I took dad´s bike and headed to the library. I was supposed to borrow a detective story but forgot it when I found cool sheet music. I´m a huge fan when it comes to Finnish music and as lame as it probably is I love Anssi Kela´s music: nice vibe and good lyrics. So when I found a book full of Anssi´s music and two other books full of Finnish rock artist´s music, I couldn´t stand still! Can´t wait to clear the house and try playing those songs with piano.........

Summer, summer, summer, autumn, autumn, autumn, autumn....

Yep, yesterday it really hit me that summer vacations are going to end and that in some point I am going to return to school.

This year is going to be different though. Lots of new things in school and lots of new things to experience with family. I´m actually quite excited when I think about the coming autumn: finally I´m going to get a driver´s license (= week end trips to summer house= sauna, swimming in the lake, good food, a camp fire etc. ;)), with sis we´re moving back to the city (= perhaps another house warming evening), baccalaureate (=lots of reading= lots of coffee, woolen socks and my precious laptop), trips to St. Petersburg (=a new culture to explore), AUTUMN CLOTHING (=knit wears, military boots, thick scarves.....), evenings chez grandma (=delicious food), sister´s prom,....

But before we move on to autumn and school life...
I´m going to the Flow festival 2011 and I can´t wait to see some of those amazing artists! We´re going to eat good food (I always talk about food..........), dress to impress and listen to gooooooood music....!

Yesterday´s purchases:

I´m really excited about that skirt! I was a bit surprised that I bought it in the first place because it´s pink. Usually I just walk past if I see something pink.

That shirt was supposed to get a makeover: sleeves off! But then I tried it on and realized that it looks really nice. It has a nice shabby look. We´ll see if the sleeves get to stay. I´m not quite sure about it...

Today was a great day. I´m so inspired after spending a day with this sweet person.

We made made plans for autumn: we´ll go to cute little cafes, wear knit wears, burn candles, have cooking and painting evenings, wear bright colored long skirts, watch inspiring movies.............

Tomorrow I´ll publish some pics of my today´s purchases: a pink long pleated skirt (bought from UFF) and a Levis´ denim shirt (bought from a flea market called Kanuuna). That shirt is about to loose its sleeves cause for a while I´ve been wanting to try that look. We´ll see if it´ll look good.

PICNIC IN HERNESAARI AND SOME SHOPPING AT WEEKDAY.

With sister we twirled around in the city. First we did some shopping and then headed to Hernesaari to visit this super cool flea market called Kanuuna. It´s a shame that before today I hadn´t visited there. I didn´t buy anything (this time) because most most of my money were spent an hour before... Any way: we found a nice looking shabby silver jacket that was a bit worn off (which made it even cooler). Plus in that point when we realized that it was a Gaultier we were the happiest girls in the world. BUT it stayed there because of the lack of money... It´ll wait for us. Or not.

After visiting the Kanuuna we had a little picnic on the beach where we admired the waves, talked and took some pics. When we got back home, we took our bikes and went to the grocery to buy some ice cream and two packs of caramel sauce: today´s mom´s name day so we pampered her with a delicious dessert and bought her a cute bustier.

With sister we started talking about her prom dress (which she doesn´t have yet). In spring she was hinting that perhaps I could sow it. Then we kinda forgot it and today we decided the model and tomorrow I´ll start working on a prototype. We´ll see if she´ll like it. ;)

Today was a perfect relaxed summer day:

I read a lot, swam a lot and drank lots of coffee.

Yesterday I took two trains to get to Kouvola where mom and grandma picked me up and we drove to Jaala. Nobody in my family believed that I would be capable to travel alone by train or even switch them. (Sometimes I can be such a stumble bum...) I proved them wrong!

It´s too good to be here: weather isn´t too hot (thanks to the cooling wind) and the water in the lake is refreshing. Today I´ve swam probably seven times and the day isn´t over yet.

Ah, this is nicenicenicenice!

Now it´s almost 10 o´clock in the evening and I´m going to go to the garage, put some music on and take some proper photos of my skull project and perhaps continue working on it.

Couple of months ago I was so annoyed with my computer that I decided to "fix it" by deleting some "unnecessary" programs. The result was that the internet didn´t work anymore. I forgot that whole problem (and the computer) till few days ago I watched how excited sis was about her new laptop. I wan´t to experience that joy too! So this morning I took it to a pro who´s going to heel it. I´m such a loser: because 1) I started deleting those programs and 2) I was ready forget the whole existence of my laptop just because it didn´t work...!! I know nothing about computers (except how to use facebook, blogger, picnik and paint) so yesterday after trying to solve the internet problem for two hours I was ready to give up and just forget (again) that I even own a laptop. I´m impossible!

Any way: last evening while watching a movie I drew these...

... and one of the skulls that I´m working on looks like this. (It´s NOT ready yet!)

Lately I haven´t finished any skulls because I´m working on all of them at the same time.... There´s one skull that I absolutely love: I´m making some sort of a chain net on its forehead. I was supposed show a picture of it but the net isn´t quite ready yet so the photo would´ve not been that representative.

In September with sis we´re moving back to the city into our little cozy gaff.

It´s going to be our SEASON 2.

We thought about doing some renewing with the interior:
First of all we´ll hang two huge paintings (made by mom) on one wall. They´ll look great! We´ll also sow some new pillow covers (fabrics are going to be bought from Ikea) , perhaps in some point buy new cute nap blankets and a new lamp would be nice. Oh, we have many ideas but not that much space or money! Still it´s nice to have dreams and plans. ;)

In winter we used to burn lots of candles there and that´s why I suggested that we should make one of those melted candle arrangements(?).... I´d place about seven white candles on a tray and then they´d melt on it little by little. I love those: full of feeling and so rough looking. It´s not the most safest way to burn candles though...
